POSITION SUMMARY:

Positionis directly responsible for the Health & Wellness department.

Primaryresponsibilities include supervisionof all wellness and group exercise programs, including coordinating programs,fitness assessments, personal training assignments, equipment orientations,member orientation and special events, an instruction as needed.Preferred candidate will have ability toteach or be trained to teach group exercise classes as well.Candidate will also oversee Livestrongprogram and Diabetes Prevention Program.

ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS:

1. Directs wellness floor assistants, group exercise staff, andvolunteers of the department in their respective responsibilities. 
2. Recruits, trains, and recognizes wellness and group exercise staff. 
3. Facilitates YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program per YMCA ofthe USA Regulations.Experiencepreferred, training available if not currently training.
4. Schedules, trains and supervises group exercise staff forour Hurlock location.
5. Focused approach to small group training and personaltraining implementation plan resulting in higher participation rate in bothprogram areas.
6. Reviews and evaluates the program enrollment, andservices provided by the wellness department and communicates findings to theirsupervisor. 
7. Identifiesnew and innovative programs in thearea of health and wellness, while targeting youth, adults, seniors, andfamilies with an emphasis on increased membership retention. 
8. Attends weekly staff meeting with branch executive andbranch program directors.
9. Orients new wellness staff and provides guidance andclarification of work duties and assignments.
10. Supervises the wellness center and free weight room by beingattentive to all participants to protect their safety. Instructs members andparticipants on safe exercise techniques including but not limited to warm-upand stretching progression, aerobic conditioning, strength training, proper useof center equipment and workout routine.
11. Maintains all equipment on fitness floor and groupexercise space ensuring safety and proper upkeep.
12. Instructs group exercise classes based on personalexperience and need of the YMCA.
13. Facilitates annual and quarterly wellness programmingincluding member challenges, YMCA Turkey Trot, etc.
14. Ensure cleanliness of fitness center through dailycleaning checklist and equipment maintenance plan.
15. Provides leadership and support to annual StrongCommunities Campaign and volunteer committees as needed.
16. Develops and manages annual budget ensuring financialsuccess of department and thus the YMCA.
17. Serves on Association Wellness Program team.
